This panel will provide essential background information and real-world suggestions for academics and scholars who have published their first book(s) with a University press, and are hoping to reach a wider audience through trade publishers. Taking into account the full scope of a career in academia and academic writing, this panel will convene editors at academic and trade publishers, all of whom will speak to the often opaque process of bringing a title to a trade publisher with a background in academia, rather than an MFA. While focused on the academy, this panel will be of interest to all authors who are interested in reaching more and broader audiences for their work. Moderated by Manan Ahmed, this panel will feature Elda Rotor and Jaya Chatterjee
