Ursula Taherian

Her Mom is a Christian-practicing white girl, her Dad is a Muslim-practicing Afghan, she is a yoga-practicing Halfghan (with a mezuza outside her door just to cover all her bases). Ursula Taherian is an award-winning actor, filmmaker and writer, currently staffed on the new Chuck Lorre comedy, United States of Al. She wrote, produced and starred in the multiple award-winning short film, THE BROWNLIST, which screened at over two dozen film festivals, including several Oscar-qualifiers, and took home the Jury Award for Best Short Film at Geena Davis’ Bentonville Film Festival. Her prize is to direct a feature film with MarVista Entertainment slated for next year. Her script, A LITTLE RACE-ISH, is also making headway in the contest world, earning a win at the CineStory TV Fellowship, Top Ten at Final Draft and countless others. She is a content creator for Unilever/Walmart and recently launched their diversity-inspired campaign, EMBRACE YOU. Ursula’s acting credits include MADAM SECRETARY, NCIS LA, SPEECHLESS, as well as voice roles on FAMILY GUY, DISNEY DESCENDANTS, and THE LOUD HOUSE, to name a few.

Through nuanced and complex storytelling and characters, her work aims to reshape the way audiences experience people from Afghanistan and other MENA countries.
